From wikigender.org
Composite indicators of gender equality have recently gained considerable attention. In addition to longer-established measures of gender equality, of which the UNDP’s Gender-related Development Index (GDI) and the Gender Empowerment Measure (GEM) are the most prominent and widely used , newer indicators have emerged such as the Gender Gap Index proposed by the World Economic Forum and the Gender Equity Index by Social Watch. In 2006, the OECD Development Centre introduced the Social Institutions and Gender Index.
