In celebration of United Nations Day and the "UN Week" organized by UN agencies and programs accredited in Tunisia from 22 to 30 October, 2010, Mr. Samir Labidi, Minister of Sport, Youth and Physical Education, will chair the opening session of the show "Seven Arts for legality" held on October 30 at 4 p.m. in the Cultural Center El Menzah 6.

Background

Organized by the UN-INSTRAW & CAWTAR project, this show is designed in collaboration with young people who are creating art works around the theme of gender equality in politics, which is part of the third Millennium Development Goal: "promote gender equality and empower women."

The idea of involving young people through art activities in the project arose from recommendations made by key partners, keeping in the spirit of the International Year of Youth proclaimed by the General Assembly of the United Nations at the initiative of Tunisian President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali.

Programme

Theater, dance, music, photography, cinema, painting and poetry are all kinds of arts in which young people from Tunis, Kairouan and Zaghouan will express their visions of equality between men and women. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about project activities targeting youth, as well as those of UN agencies present in Tunisia.
